The Vineyard country boasts twenty-eight registered or listed buildings. The best known are the Château de Goulaine and the many monuments and sites of the exceptional Clisson Valley, a historical Breton style town transformed into an idealized Italian landscape in the nineteenth century by artists enamoured of Italy. It has a diversity of architecture unique in Europe, including Italian rustic architecture from Tuscany and Umbria.
